RADICAL RIGS: RAV4 & GARY FISHER AQUILA
Meet Logan Nelson, a bike handler, videographer, and all-around gear tinkerer whose 1999 Toyota RAV4 and Gary Fisher Aquila are just as rad as the guy himself. Featured in The Radavist's Radical Rigs series, this duo is a throwback to a time when vehicles and bikes had fewer bells, fewer whistles, and way more soul.

Logan’s first-gen RAV4 is a no-frills, all-function beast. Full-time AWD, 5-speed manual, and just enough off-road grit to crawl up PNW forest service roads with ease. It’s got fog light mods, air-lift suspension (tucked neatly into the gas cap hatch for bonus style points), and custom sound-deadening under the hood. This is what happens when a dirt bike rescuer gets hold of a moldy, beat-up two-door Toyota: it turns into a trail-ready sleeper rig with character for days.

And the bike? Logan’s Gary Fisher Aquila is a 90s MTB with a modern heart. Outfitted with an 11-speed SLX drivetrain and a touch of practicality, it matches the RAV4’s vibe — timeless, capable, and just the right amount of weird.
We’re here for people who keep old things alive, for rigs that still get dirty, and for those who believe lockers > lights. Logan gets it. His ride might not be perfect, but that’s kind of the point. It’s better.

We are excited to continue to support this series on The Radavist, written and photographed by Paul Kalifatidi, introducing you to the people, vehicles, and bikes that make our industry “rad.”
In this installment of Radical Rigs, Paul introduces you to Logan, his practical yet capable RAV4, and his Gary Fisher Aquila with a vintage soul.
Stay tuned for more Radical Rigs coming soon!
